I don’t wanna instagram anymore, GRandpa…
I just don’t want to Instagram any more
I imagine a lot of creatives feel that way. As well as the dilemma that goes along with not being hyper active in this social space that acts as more of a game and a distraction than a potent marketing tool. Or a place to find community.
Social media has made my world too big. It gives me access to things I do not want access to…. which is mostly copious amounts of other people. We are bombarded and saturated HOURLY with these personalities and videos and photos an opinions of things we didn’t ask to see (but we do ask just not directly) and then naturally are left judging. Why else do we social media if not to judge?
After all of my internal dialogue about social media and knowing I have unhealthy boundaries with it (“it brings me no joy but I keep doing it” kind of unhealthy) I’ve decided to get through this last round of shows I have in October and then go inactive. I’ll keep my Instagram up as a living digital portfolio and use all the tools available to direct friends and shoppers to my website.
Please make sure to sign up for my newsletter as I will send one out quarterly with new work, show updates, and other odds + ends. Can’t wait to keep in touch with everyone!
